Battery Safety
Electric bike batteries are powerful lithium-ion battery systems. Proper charging, storage, and handling are important for safety and long-term performance.
All TEXEBIKE models are certified to UL 2271 and UL 2849 standards for battery and electrical system safety.
Use the Original Charger
Always use the original charger supplied with your TEX EBIKE.
Do not use:
- Unapproved chargers
- Damaged chargers
- Chargers with incorrect voltage
- Modified charging equipment
- Third-party chargers unless approved by TEX EBIKES
Using the wrong charger can damage the battery and may create a safety risk.
Charging Safety
When charging your battery:
- Charge in a dry indoor area
- Keep away from flammable materials
- Do not charge near heaters or direct sunlight
- Do not charge in freezing temperatures
- Do not cover the charger during use
- Do not leave the battery charging unattended for long periods
- Unplug the charger when charging is complete
Battery Storage
Store the battery in a cool, dry place.
Avoid:
- Extreme heat
- Freezing temperatures
- Direct sunlight
- Moisture
- Water exposure
- Long-term full discharge
- Storage near flammable materials
For long-term storage, keep the battery partially charged and recharge periodically.
Cold Weather Use
Cold weather can reduce battery range and performance. In Canadian winter conditions, riders may experience shorter range than in warm weather.
Battery care tips for cold weather:
- Store the battery indoors when possible
- Avoid charging a frozen battery
- Let the battery warm to room temperature before charging
- Expect reduced range in cold temperatures
- Avoid leaving the battery outside for long periods
Water and Moisture
Many e-bikes can handle light rain or wet roads, but batteries and electrical components should not be submerged or pressure-washed.
Do not:
- Submerge the battery
- Pressure wash the bike
- Spray water directly at electrical connectors
- Ride through deep water
- Store the battery in wet conditions
After wet riding, dry the bike and battery area carefully.
Battery Warning Signs
Stop using the battery immediately if you notice:
- Unusual smell
- Excessive heat
- Swelling
- Smoke
- Leaking
- Cracked casing
- Damaged connector
- Unusual charging behaviour
- Sudden power loss
- Error messages
Contact TEXEBIKE support before using the battery again.
Transportation
When transporting your e-bike:
- Turn off the bike
- Remove the battery if recommended
- Secure the bike properly
- Avoid dropping or striking the battery
- Keep the battery away from sharp objects
- Do not transport a damaged battery
Battery Disposal
Do not throw lithium-ion batteries in household garbage. Batteries must be recycled or disposed of according to local regulations.
Contact your local recycling facility for proper battery disposal options.
